Wyman Estes Rutland's Obituary
Wyman Estes “Butch” Rutland of Covington, LA passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018. He was born on June 2, 1942 in Augusta, GA to Lonnie Hoyt Rutland, Sr. and Estelle Wall Rutland.
Wyman is survived by his beloved wife, Clara Benford Rutland; his daughter Rhonda Rutland Spell, and her husband Brian Richard “Rick” Spell; and his two grandchildren Tyler Rutland Spell and Alexandra René Spell.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Frampton Louis Rutland, Frances Olive Rutland, Lonnie Hoyt Rutland, Jr., and William Franklin Rutland.
Mr. Rutland graduated from Barnwell High School. He was a former South Carolina Highway Patrol Officer and owned several businesses. He was also a Third Degree Master Mason, York Rite and a Shriner. Mr. Rutland was Santa Claus to many children since 1979.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Covington Presbyterian Church, 222 S. Jefferson Street, Covington, LA 70433 on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 3:00 PM with visitation at the church on Sunday beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Barker-McManus Cemetery, Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Rutland to be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children – Greenville, SC, Attn: Office of Development 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
