William Crawford Young's Obituary
William Crawford Young, age 78, of Mandeville, Louisiana, died on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was born on October 27, 1946, in Clanton, Alabama.
He is survived by his sisters, Myra Young Vaccarella (Tony) and Priscilla Young Goodner (Kevin); nieces, Myra Alford, Barbra Lockridge, and Brook Sheridan; nephews, Robert Mittelbronn, Charles Mittelbronn, Samuel Vaccarella, Tony Vaccarella, Hamilton Moody, and Will Goodner; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Crawford and Myra Young; and his brother, Charles Young.
Crawford was a 1964 graduate of Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, Georgia, and earned a bachelor’s degree in theater and history from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He enjoyed working in the theater throughout high school and into adulthood. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served honorably in the Vietnam War. He ultimately retired as a contractor with the city of Columbia, South Carolina.
Most importantly, he loved his family and was very close to his sisters and nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana, at 12:30 PM.
