I will always remember and admire Mr. Bill. He was a very caring, thoughtful, funny, and courageous man. Through stories, I know he lived a wonderful life. In recent years, he had endured so much through illness, but still managed to smile, laugh, read books, listen to others, enjoy and appreciate music, make jokes, travel, inspire those around him, and be a great friend. I feel blessed to have known him, as many others would agree.

Bill and I never met, but we have mutual friends. I knew "Jebbie" from his comments at Salon. I always liked Bill and saw him as a smart, stand up guy.
He touched people all over.
Will be missed.

Bill was an on-line friend of mine through our mutual interests in NASCAR and politics. He was intelligent, witty, sometimes a burr under the saddle for those who crossed him, and for me, a good friend who always had my back. My heartfelt condolences are with Bobbi, Bret, and Matt and the rest of his family. Bill will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him.
