To this day, I thank God for placing me, as a teacher, at Mandeville Elementary under the principalship of Mr. Ferrer. It was such a blessing for me and our sons. He was a kind, genuinely sincere, and compassionate man. May these beautiful traits live on in his family!
Doug, sincere condolences to you on your fathers death. You and your family are in our prayers.
I was very fortunate to have my children attend Mandeville Elementary when Bill was principal, the students loved him. He also left huge shoes for me to try and fill when I became principal from 1997-2007. He would always come back to celebrate the retirements of the faculty he had hired. A great person, principal and friend. Isabelle Bahan Moore
He was my favorite principal ever. An absolute wonderful man. Prayers to the families.
What an incredible man! I'm 42 years old and I remember many of the good times with him at MES, him walking around school singing at the top of his lungs, getting to sign the "good book " in his office and him allowing me to play with the hotwheel cars that he had confiscated from some "not so good" students. I also remember him playing football and shooting marbles with us onthe playground. My father, Ed Parker became good friends with him and it was an honor to see him when he showed up at my dad's funeral a few years ago . My family's thoughts and prayers are with the Ferrer family. He will be missed!
Thoughts and prayers for the Ferrer family! I student taught when Mr. Ferrer was principal at MES. Mr Ferrer had a larger than life personality and made everyone feel special. Gave me great advice and guidance while I was there. Remember it like yesterday. Truly a much loved legend in St Tammany Parish School System.
Met Bill when I moved to Covington in the 5th grade. I became great friends with Doug and am still to this day. Bill and his lovely bride gave me hell from the first day and I did my best to fire back at them. What a genuine couple, it was fun to watch how they cherished each other. Bill is with Mary now and hopefully getting with my folks to discuss how GREAT I turned out.
I will not be in town to make the services, but my prayers and love are with you all the Ferrer family! This man will surely be missed.
Take Care

I remember him fondly from my years at Mandeville Elementary, he was such a kind person. Prayers to the family.
I remember it like yesterday. I was in fourth grade at Mandeville Elementary. I had been caught in a spitball incident....still will not name names. My teacher Ms. Menetre said I might not be able to get my straight A certificate .....I was devastated. On the day of our ceremony Mr. Ferrer called me up and gave me my certificate. He leaned way over and whispered to me “you did not think we would forget you did you?” I hugged him like there was no tomorrow. Thank you Mr. Ferrer for your compassion and your deep committment to children. You will live in our hearts and memories. Marietta Sigerson
