William "Bill" Boegel's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William "Bill" Boegel, who left us on March 16th at the age of 85 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was a man whose kindness, humor, and unwavering reliability left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was a cornerstone of his family and a cherished friend to many.
A Wisconsin native, Bill met his future wife, Barbara Ann Engeron, while stationed with the U.S. Army in New Orleans. They later married and settled in Metairie where they built a life together and raised a family. Bill was a dedicated husband and father from the very beginning-coaching his sons in little league, attending his daughter's dance recitals, and supporting his family through both good times and hard times. He was a man of simple means and genuinely just a good guy. His quick wit, warm smile, and infectious good nature were a constant source of comfort and joy. He was always willing to lend a hand and generally, no ask was too great for him.
Throughout his life, Bill remained devoted to his family, friends, and work. He loved the outdoors, especially plowing and planting his gardens, hunting, fishing, and was a huge fan of country music. He was a loving husband to Barbara, and a proud father to Mark Boegel (Janice), Ann Lemaitre (Eric), Jill Boegel, and Eric Boegel (Tasha) and a true friend to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Bill was Grandpa to 11 grandchildren: Christophe, Matt, Sarah, Emma, Dane, Erik, Kayla, Maghee, Alexa, Kinsley, and William. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren.
Bill's legacy of kindness, humor, and reliability will continue to inspire and comfort all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
