May God apply to your wounded heart the healing touch of His precious promises, and let you soon experience His power. He will wipe away the tears from your eyes that you may be able to see through the mist, beyond death and the grave, to the ressurection and life assured by the glorious victory of our Savior, Jesus Christ over death and the grave. May God comfort and strengthen you. "Wash", as we called him in school was a brilliant scholar at Covington Rosenwald. He was two years ahead of me in school and graduated with my brother, Albert Smith.

"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself."
- Philippians 3:20-21
Both my husband Charles and I want to extend our deepest sympathy on Washington's passing. Although it is little consolation at this sad time, it must be gratifying to know that in his passing we celebrate the end of a very long and productive life both professional and family-wise.
It is my sincerest hope that you find the strength to move forward with the confidence in knowing that his was a life well-lived. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless.

Wash once told me," If anybody knew you they could never forget you. Wash and I were in law school and under graduate classes together. He had been constantly on my mind before he fell ill. May the warm memories that his family and friends have of their times together, sustain and comfort them through this difficult time.
Please accept our condolences in in your loss. Washingto Marshall helped me overcome an administrative problem at Southern University Law Center. I remember him as a quiet but effective man. Our Prayers are with you.
