George, Kim, Della and family: As someone else said, "Spike is one of the GOOD GUYS". He had a rare and wonderful personality. Spike made you feel good about yourself, and wanted to be part of the cure, and not part of the problem. I will always appreciate him for this. His positive influence will live on, in you and your family,,,,,and in me to. Its a blessing that Spike's grandchildren got to be around him. I very much enjoyed my insightful talks with him the last few years at the meetings. I know he is very proud of you George, and the rest of his family.--- We've lost a good one, and we will miss him. ---- David & Gena Smith, your Tennessee Hillbilly friends always!
Della & Family: I am truly sorry to hear about Spike. He was a great leader and person to all who had the privilege to met him. I have not seen Spike in years but I have fond memories of him both as an athlete and person. As someone said, "he was one of the good guys". Thanks Spike for allowing me to have know you.
To the family we share in your loss. God Bless !
George: We are very sorry to hear of your recent loss. Your father was a true gentleman and a friend We will all miss him. Our condolences to your family.
Dear Della and Family, I was saddened to learn of Spike's death, and please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss. You both truly made the "perfect couple" in high school, and it was quite rewarding to see at our 40th Reunion three years ago that your loving relationship was "alive and well." May God (and all of your cherished memories) comfort you. Gail
Miss Della, George, Kim, Walter and Laura: Just a note to let you know that we are all truly sorry for your loss. Our family attended the service today and we all thought it was very moving. The most moving part for me was the true love and devotion that was shared between Spike and Della and how that has impacted the lives of their children. I can only hope that when our time comes to pass that our children will look upon us with that same reverance. Miss Della we know you are going to greatly miss your Spike as will everyone who knew him. Even my teenagers were moved by the service today and talked about all the pictures they saw and how nice everything was done. That is saying something when you get a teenagers attention. I could see a lot of Kim in the service today she is always great when it comes to gatherings. Some people just have a talent for it. George and Kim have been dear friends and neighbors to us for the past 8 years or so and we have had the priviledge to watch their girls grow from toddlers to young ladies and to meet most of the family. Spike will be sadly missed. (Kenny won't have anyone to share all his ducks and fish with now). Just want to let you all know that we love you and are here for you. The McDuffie Family
Della and family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Spike was a very special person to our family and was one of the good guys. Clarice and Robert Rogers
Della,
My prayers go out with you and your family on the passing of your husband, and my friend Spike. It was great to see him and have the opportunity to say hello after so many year. Sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral today, but would like to visit the grave site.
Della: The service was perfect and Chandler did an outstanding job. The video presentation was even greater. It was truly a great celebration of a wonderful life. Whenever I think of Spike I will always remember that infectious smile. It went from ear to ear and even made his eyes squint. You could not help be in a better mood after seeing Spike and that wonderful smile. It was such a part of him that it is in almost every picture of him, even as a young boy. Bless you and bless your family. The world is a better place for those of us who knew Spike and enjoyed that wonderful smile. Mike
