I join my classmate, Teri Chalmers, in offering my sincere condolences to the Santi family. Those years (which now seem to belong to another era) with Prof. Santi started us all off with a deep love for Italy and all things Italian. I went on to do a Masters and live in Rome, and Prof. Santi's role in all that is carved in stone.
My associaion with Mr. Santi was brief. But my thoughts and prayers are with his family...Especially-Christina, who was one of my childhood friends. God Bless
It is reqretful that we bid Professore Santi farewell. Italy and his students of Italian shall miss him. His teaching enhanced my love for the Italian language. My prayers are offered for him and for his greiving family. Arriverderci Professore.
Connie, I was so sorry to hear the news about Victor. I have thought of him often since leaving UNO.
I am sorry I can't make the services for him but my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

Victor had an immense positive influence on my life, both when I was his student at Tulane in the 70s and during my academic career in the 80s and 90s. He was so very generous with his time--when I was his student we spent innumerable hours in his office discussing literature, film, and life, and I was a guest in his home for dinner with him and Kathy many, many times. Later, when we would run into each other at academic conferences, he would always offer an encouraging word. My life has been richer for my having known him. I send my deepest condolences to his friends and family.
Victor Santi had a great influence on the direction my life has taken and I am deeply saddened by his passing. He was the person who taught me Italian during my first two semesters at Tulane and I continued taking courses with him for four years.
He was a wonderful person and teacher, and was always available to students. I have fond memories of classroom discussions, especially in a course on Ariosto and Tasso, and of his end-of-semester parties, full of good food and music.
My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends. May Victor rest in peace.
