Victor Henry "Hank" Abel's Obituary
Victor Henry “Hank” Abel passed away at home on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. He was born in New Orleans, LA on April 30, 1938.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Newman Abel; his children, Julie Elaine Abel and Victor Ryker Abel (Sabrina); his grandchildren, Logan and Trenton Abel
He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret Sievers Abel and Victor Milton Abel; and his brother David Louis Abel.
Hank graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond and taught Industrial Arts at Mandeville High School for 37 years. A year round program was started at MJH where he taught auto mechanics, welding, and large project building. He was also the tennis instructor and the athletic trainer for football.
In his spare time, he loved horses and started the Mandeville Saddle Club where the riders participated in trail rides and overnight camping. In addition to horses, he loved his motorcycle and his boat. Hank took flying lessons and learned to fly but never got around to solo flight. He played pitcher for the Presbyterian Baseball Team that played at New Zion Church. Hank even drove a “big rig” in Maine.
Hank and his wife Bobbie traveled extensively all throughout the United States. Most of all, Hank was most proud of his children and grandchildren.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery
