Victor Henry “Hank” Abel passed away at home on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. He was born in New Orleans, LA on April 30, 1938. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Newman Abel; his children, Julie Elaine Abel and Victor Ryker Read Obituary
What a terrific teacher, mentor and family friend. Hank was not only my industrial arts teacher for many years at MHS but he hired me on several jobs to work as a framer or trim carpenter. On my first job, we framed an addition in Mandeville. The last day he was complementing my work, until I intentionally dropped a few tools off the roof rather than carry them down the ladder. He never raised his voice but said "welcome to construction, you now own a framing square and worm saw, we take care of our tools".
Mr. Hank was always smiling & had such a great, laid back demeanor
