Vernon Ramke's Obituary
Vernon “Hoss” R. Ramke, died on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at his residence in Covington, LA at age 88.
Born April 20, 1925 in Port Neches to the late Henry Roy and Louise Lacour Ramke.
Beloved husband of Meredith Lyon Ramke. Loving father of Stephen (Kim) and the late Pamela Ramke. Stepfather of James (Mathilde) and Stephen (Jill) Lyon. Grandfather of Andrew, Ashley, Sydney, Elizabeth, and Matthew Lyon. Brother of Roy Ramke, Sr., Doris Fuller, and Joyce (Jerry) Goodwin.
Also survived by many wonderful neices and nephews.
Hoss was an alumni of Lamar University (All American), Tulane University (Member of the 1949 SEC Football Championship Team), Stephen F. Austin State University and the United States Navy. He touched many lives through education and coaching. He had a longstanding career in the Petroleum Safety Industry. Post retirement he served as President and Manager of Covington Country Club.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation in the Chapel of St. Paul's School, 917 S. Jahncke Ave., Covingon, LA 70433, on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 2:00-2:30 PM with a Memorial Service immediately following.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Foundation at 1202 S. Tyler St. Covington, LA 70433.
