Velma Ikerd Griffith's Obituary
Velma Ikerd Griffith passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2016. She was at home with all her children by her side. A native of Oak Grove, LA, she was born on Monday, February 18, 1934 to Nora Alice Ludlow and Myrik Green Ikerd and moved with her family to Mandeville, LA in 1974. She retired from the St. Tammany Parish School System after faithfully teaching for many years at Slidell High School.
The beloved wife of the late William C. Griffith, Sr., she is survived by two daughters - Jennifer Griffith and Janie Griffith Castaneda (Roy); two sons - William C. Griffith, Jr. (Cindy) and John I. Griffith; and three grandchildren - Krystal Anne Castaneda, William C., III and Evan A. Griffith. She was preceded in death by four brothers - Howard, Austin, J.Q. and Elbert Ikerd; and two sisters - Dorothy Hemphill Roark and Irma Ikerd Tomlinson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433 (Next to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home).
Visiting hours are scheduled for Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 3-5:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
