Dr. Timothy Patrick Maher's Obituary
Dr. Timothy P. Maher, age 69, of Mandeville, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was born on February 24, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Lois Shelton Maher; children, Chris, Mark, and Kelly; son-in-law, Caleb; siblings, Anne Batt, Brian Maher, and Rusty Maher; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Fred Maher and Mary Doyal Maher.
Dr. Maher was a 1973 graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans and earned a psychology degree from Loyola University New Orleans in 1977. He graduated from LSU Medical School in 1981 and completed his residency in anesthesiology in 1986.
He worked for five years at St. Jude Hospital in Kenner before and for thirty years at Women’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, where he served as the Chief Anesthesiologist for the Louisiana Anesthesia Group until his retirement in 2021.
Dr. Maher was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hiker, and a lifelong fan of LSU and the New Orleans Saints. He was always a loving father, devoted husband, and compassionate doctor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening wake on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, which is adjacent to E. J. Fielding Funeral Home.
