Mrs Tillie Elois Knight's Obituary
Tillie “Elois” Hughes Knight was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Friday, April 19, 2024.
Elois was born on February 9, 1944. She is survived by her son, Robert L. Knight Jr. (spouse Shannon); daughter, Deloris Diane Knight; and grandson, Robert L. Knight III. She also leaves behind two sisters, Winnie LeBlanc and Lenora Coyne; as well as a brother, Jimmy Rester.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert L. Knight Sr.; mother, Pearlie Jenkins Phillips; sister Sarah Catherine Knight; and brother, Pete Hughes.
Elois began working at a young age and had various jobs throughout her lifetime. Many remember her fondly from years spent working at Jim Fredericks’ toy store or Bridges’ Drugs in downtown Covington. Eventually, she was employed by the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court where she finished out her career and retired in 2009.
She was an incredibly talented and creative person. She loved gardening, crafting, crocheting, and baking. Friends and family were often blessed by her talents, and many were gifted special items she created so skillfully with love. Those items are much treasured pieces to all who received them.
Elois served her Lord Jesus Christ faithfully throughout her life. She often told of His loving kindness and care for her. Even in her last days she was witnessing to all whom she came in contact with and was often heard proclaiming, “The Lord has never let me down”.
Her greatest joy in life was teaching young children about the love that Christ has for them. She spoke often of her “church kids” and prayed for them daily, right until the end.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Vital Caring Hospice for walking this journey with us. Special thank you to Shelby, Monica, Caroline, Raquel, Carissa, Noah, Dee, Erica, and Walter for your love and support in these past few months. Your guidance has given us much comfort in our time of need.
Elois requested a “Celebration” of her life so, friends and family are invited to join us in that celebration on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Shepherd’s Care Ministries with visitation beginning at 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 pm. Interment to follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Following the service there will be a celebratory meal in the Family Life Center for friends and family. ¬¬¬¬
