Susan Enloe Keen's Obituary
Susan Enloe Keen, age 83, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. She was born on January 2, 1942, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She is survived by her children, Mark Keen (Dawn) and Stephanie Keen Rolling (Jason); grandchildren, Jessica Pastor, Kyle Pastor; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Frank McElroy “Mac” Keen, III; her parents, Gillespie Enloe, Sr. and Helen Forio Enloe; and siblings, Gillespie “Gill” Enloe, Jr..
Susan graduated from McDonogh High School in New Orleans and attended Louisiana State University where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.
Art was her lifelong passion and a true expression of her heart. She especially loved painting plein air—capturing flowers, landscapes, and the quiet beauty of the world around her. One of her earliest works was a magnolia she painted for her mother on Mother’s Day while at LSU, a gift made with love when money was tight.
She began her career as an English teacher in the Jefferson Parish School District, later transitioning to a fulfilling role in real estate with Latter & Blum. At 80, she took a solo trip to France to paint—one of her favorite adventures. In her later years, she continued to grow as an artist and was thrilled to be the 2025 Chef Soiree Poster Artist.
She was exceptionally intelligent and known for her razor-sharp, dry wit—always ready with a clever remark that could make you laugh or think. She met each day with quiet strength and determination. Her resilience was an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved traveling with family, and her daughter will always cherish their many mother/daughter trips, especially their favorite destination of New York City. She was deeply proud of her son, Mark, and her grandchildren, Jessica and Kyle. She also found great connection and inspiration in her beloved art groups, whose friendships meant the world to her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Keen may be made to the Northshore Humane Society at www.northshorehumane.org/give or to the Youth Service Bureau at www.ysbworks.com/donate.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, Louisiana.
