Shirley A. Lantrip Bradley's Obituary
Shirley A. Lantrip Bradley passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the age of 83 in Mandeville, LA.
Married to the love of her life 60 years ago to Joe E. Bradley who was charmed by her beauty and personality when he first saw her at Pontchartrain Beach. She was always at his side during his work assignments in New Orleans, Springfield, IL, Beaufort, SC, Memphis, TN and Baton Rouge.
She leaves behind her husband; her two beloved daughters, Chris O’Brien (Joseph) and Linda Demoruelle (Marc); grandchildren, Erica Demoruelle Fletcher (Timothy), Taylor Demoruelle and Margaret O’Brien; great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jolie Fletcher. She had a deep love for all the family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Norman.
She grew up in New Orleans and is remembered by many as an officer in the Gentilly Woods Civic Association. A fearless fighter that took on politicians, real estate companies and even an airline who wanted to exploit for greed the neighborhood that she loved. Those who knew her would always speak of her humor, her personality and her great capacity of empathy for others. She was the “go to” person for neighborhood problems and her work went a long way in help stabilize and solve problems during a time of great change. She served as a docent for the Baton Rouge Zoo teaching school children to love animals.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Shirley’s life at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 5:00 PM with visitation on Thursday beginning at 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mrs. Bradley to be made to the charity of your choice.
