Sherwood David Barker's Obituary
Sherwood David Barker, age 82, of Covington, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 7, 2024. He was born September 2, 1941, to Stanley David and Ella Mae Jenkins Barker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley David and Ella Mae Jenkins Barker; and a sister, Ann Barker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 ½ years, Doris “Dot” Carpenter Barker; his son, Sherwood Daniel Barker (Simone) and daughter, Leah Barker Lee (Scott), both of Covington; grandchildren, Justin Barker, Brandon Barker, Chasse Lee (Kirstan), Zachary Lee, and Hayden Lee; great-granddaughters, Laci Lee and Harper Lee. He is also survived by his siblings, Brenda Sowder (Billy); foster sisters, Lynn Jenkins and Dolly Price (Joey); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Sherwood was a lifelong resident of the Lee Road/Barker’s Corner Community, who worked for Cleco for forty years as a service man. After retirement, he enjoyed working outdoors on his tractor, cutting grass, woodworking, singing, telling stories, and, most of all, helping and serving others as a man of strong faith. He was a treasure of kindness and love to his family and to all those who were blessed to know him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Savannah Branch Church of God, 11067 Highway 1078, Folsom, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at a later date.
