I guess we never realize how much we miss someone, esp our mom, when they are no longer with us..many times I am about to call mom to ask her something, and then realize she is not here..my heart breaks..I would have traded places with Nell to be with mom , what joy. Life doesn't always provide what we want..I love and miss mom more than anyone would imagine..I was thankful to be with mom for a couple of years up here, such a blessing and joy for me.. It is never too late to express condolences for the loss of anyone, mainly a mother. Mrs. McDonald was like a mother to all of us girls, Barbara Reed, Anna Crane, Faith and me. She always laughed and encouraged us to do our best and have fun doing it. I use to love going to help at the shop in the Quarter. What a wonderful person to have known growing up, and thank you for raising such a sweetheart as my dear, dear friend, Janie.
WE were so saddened to hear of Sally's passing. Your Dad was having his 2nd coronary bypass surgery almost twenty yrs ago at Highland Park Hospital in covington, when my husband, Jackie, (James Church) at age 42, suffered his first heart attack & had to undergo emergency eight vessel bypass surgery at the same time. Your Mom was so brave, so caring & so encouraging to me. I cried on her shoulder as I waited outside the ICU for more than 32 days not knowing if Jackie would survive or not. I just want you to know how much I love Sally & the friendship we developed during those days & over the years. Jackie did survive the surgery, but Sally is the one who got ME through those terrifying weeks. I worked at Lakeview & would run into her frequently & her first words, after the hugs, were always, "how is Jack doing & how are you doing?" Having been thru it herself & after your Dad's death, she was probably the only one who really understood my feelings. I will never forget her & will look forward to the day we will meet again. Dear Janie, We were sorry to hear about your mom's death. We hope that your family is doing ok, adn have many happy memories to remain in your hearts and minds. What a beautiful tribute!!! I grew up on East William David Parkway, down the street from the McDonald's ." Miss Sally " was such a warm and supportive lady. I known in my heart she has paved her road to heaven. She will be lucky to see her husband, Suzanne and my parents, Rosa Lee and Malcolm Fyfe. I cherish the memories of spending hours at the McDonald house , playing with Janie, Suzanne , Nell and, then, baby, Dianne. I hope to be able to see everyone and support them in their grief. My husband, Bob,had knee surgery the day of the funeral so I did not read the paper until late on Tuesday. Cindy and I share the loss of such a great warm and caring lady who kept us all in line with her ruling as mother,mother-in-law, and grandmother. She will be very much indeed missed by all who knew Sally as the genuine real person she was. I have many fond memories of Sally that will keep me confident that she is resting in a far better place with the Lord by her side. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family.
Janie, Diane, Nell, Al, Toby, Susan. My heart is broken with you. Sally was like a momma to me. She was the first person to hear the news of my pregnancy with Gina, my eldest child. She was not only my friends' mom, she was and stayed my dear friend all these years. There will never be anyone quite like Sally. I could go on and on but you all know.... Anna
I am so saddened by the loss of your precious mother, my Aunt Sally. I loved her so much and looked forward to our phone conversations. She always said she was going to come and visit and bring her dancing shoes. What a wonderful and fun person she was. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. I'm sure she is wearing her "dancing shoes" now. My love to you all.
Salley was SUCH a good friend & co-worker at Mogle & Hawkins, CPA firm. No one could ask for a better office buddy! We will all miss her laughing & smiling...
