Roy Edward Hurd Jr.'s Obituary
Roy E. Hurd, Jr., born February 10, 1948, a resident of Covington, LA, entered into eternal glory on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Mr. Hurd son of the late Roy E. Hurd, Sr. of Chicago, IL and Anita Vincent Hurd of New Orleans, LA.
Roy, Jr. is survived by his three children: Roy E. Hurd III (Christie), Audrey Sable (Michael), Hilary Dickinson (Marshall), and four grandchildren Bella Butler, Rydge-Roy E. Hurd IV, Riley and Ellie Dickinson, sisters Royanne Blossman (Fred) and Gayle Swords (late Cullom “Buster”), along with many nieces and
nephews and his longtime caring companion, Cindy Haveman.
Roy was a dynamic athlete having achieved All-state credits at Covington High in basketball and football. He received a football scholarship to LSU where he starred for two years as a stellar kicker before finishing his college career at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA.
Roy had many friends for a long time who looked up to him as “special” and thus,
he will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time.
