The following is written by his daughters Meredith Reese, Meghan Woytisek, and Madeline Reese, who wish to share their own words in remembrance of their father:
“Robert “Andy” Reese was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. He took pride in being present in the lives of the people he loved. Whether it was keeping up with the family group chat or making sure everyone gathered together for a family picture for any (and every) family event, he was always the glue that kept us all together. Our rock. And as he stood behind us waiting for the flash to go off, not once did he forget to say “cheese”. It was not a Reese family picture unless he said “cheese”.
Throughout his life, he had many accomplishments that his family and friends will remember him by. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and Marine Corp., a graduate from the University of Illinois, well-respected by his peers and colleagues at work, and a self-proclaimed “renaissance man” with more hobbies and random fun-facts stashed away than anyone else you know. He made a name for himself at the Northshore Humane Society where he volunteered his time, fostering dogs and eventually adopting his beloved pet Mike.
He had a love for sports, books, and anything collectible (trains, stamps, coins… you name it, he had it). And he took pride in his collections. But he would tell you himself, his biggest pride and joy was his three daughters, whom he loved deeply and did everything in the world to make happy.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Reese may be made to the Northshore Humane Society.
Please RSVP with the family for details regarding the celebration of life for Mr. Reese.
