Col Robert J Guidry's Obituary
Colonel Robert J. Guidry, LA ANG (Ret.), aka “Bob”, age 86 of Covington, LA passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 26, 2023. He was born in New Orleans, La. on October 18, 1936 to the late George Paul Guidry, Sr. and Baliska Mary Aragon. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Mott Guidry, his brothers Donald E. Guidry and George P. Guidry, Jr. He is survived by his loving children, Chris Guidry, Libby Guidry and Stacey Guidry, granddaughters Ivana Guidry and Sophie Guidry, his brother Gerard J. Guidry (Debbie), and his nephews and nieces.
Bob graduated from Jesuit High School in 1954 and from Loyola University in 1958. He taught school at Live Oak Jr. High and St. Francis Cabrini before joining the La. Air National Guard. He proudly served his country until his retirement in 1993 having achieved the rank of Colonel. He and his
brother Jerry founded the Surgical House, Inc., a successful surgical supply company, in 1973 and served as its president until his retirement in 1999.
Bob was a loving and devoted husband, a wonderful father, an astute business partner and faithful friend to those who knew him. He was a hardworking and experienced handyman who was always willing to help family, friends and those in need. But most of all, he will be remembered for his marvelous sense of humor and razor-sharp wit. Those who knew him knew he had a gift for making people laugh…and laugh they did. He was an incredible comedian.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on February 1, 2023 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Avenue, Covington, LA from 9:30 am– 11:00 am with a Mass to follow at 11.00 am.
Private interment for the family to follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens and Cemetery in Covington, La.In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Wounded Warrior Project, https://woundedwarriorproject.org, 1-855-448-3997.
