Robert Edward Gilreath's Obituary
Robert E. Gilreath on Monday, January 15, 2007.
He was born February 24, 1909 to the late James and Bessie Davidson Gilreath in Williamsberg, KY. He was drafted into the Army during WWII where served as Tec. Sgt. of the Engineering Corps at the atomic bomb site in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Mr. Gilreath considers himself a native of Alabama, working in Birmingham for many years for Merita bread and Kraft Foods until moving to Covington in 1975. In Covington he worked at First National Bank and P&W Industries and was a member of the American Legion and the First United Methodist Church of Covington. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and was an avid but humble sports fan.
Preceding him in death are his beloved wife Eunice Springfield Gilreath and one brother, Fred Gilreath. He is survived by one daughter, June G. Warner of Covington; one son, Robert, Jr. of Birmingham; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Funeral Services Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours will begin Thursday at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow services at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington.
