Robert Anthony Drewes' Obituary
Robert Anthony Drewes passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 in Covington, LA. He was born on November 7, 1950 in New Orleans, LA to the late Clay Harold Drewes, Sr. and Concetta Milazzo Drewes.
Robert was the beloved husband of Bonnie Piazza Drewes for 51 years. He was the loving father of Angela Christina Angelette (Scott) and Amanda Michelle Moskowitz (Zachary). Robert was the proud grandfather of Jade Gabriella Cooper and Eleanor Angela Moskowitz. He was the brother of Claire Rodriguez (the late Albert) and Clay Drewes, Jr. (Stephanie).
Robert was retired following a successful career as an insurance claims executive, serving over thirty years with Allstate Insurance. He courageously defeated cancer three times. He ran and finished thirteen marathons. He raised two devoted daughters. Robert made the world’s best seafood gumbo.
Robert was a proud New Orleanian who loved fishing, the Saints, good creole food and jazz music. In his youth, Robert was a jazz musician who led the Holy Cross high school marching band as drum major alongside his twin brother, Clay. He also led the marching band at the University of New Orleans, where he earned a master’s degree in business administration and was a brother in the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. Robert rode in the krewe of Pegasus for nine years and his car radio was always tuned to WWOZ.
More than anything, Robert loved family. An avid genealogist, he traced his family’s history back to the fifteenth century. While Robert has now been reunited in peace with his parents, his family will miss him dearly and carry his memory in their hearts until they are reunited with him once again.
