Robert Anthony Drewes passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 in Covington, LA. He was born on November 7, 1950 in New Orleans, LA to the late Clay Harold Drewes, Sr. and Concetta Milazzo Drewes. Robert was the beloved husband of B Read Obituary
So sorry for the loss of our cousin Robbie. I have fond memories of him as older cousin as a child at family gatherings and picnics. He was always accomplished in everything he did. to Bonnie and family, we are sorry for your loss. All of your family will be in our prayers. Love, Mike and Amy Songy.
Robert was a member of our running community. As my wife Patty and I were fond of saying, we spent twenty years of our lives (from our 40’s into our 60’s) running forty mile weeks with friends like Bob and Clay building friendships that last a lifetime. Over those years Bob and Bonnie Drews were also frequent dinner, theater and concert companions with Patty and I. In more recent years, Bob frequently joined our running club friends for coffee on Tuesday Mornings at the Abita Roasting Company in Madisonville, Louisiana. We cherish all of those memories and good times we have shared with Bob and Bonnie. Our hearts break for Bonnie, Angela, Amanda and the rest of his family for their loss.
Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.
Dear Bonnie, Angela, Amanda and Clay, we are so saddened and heartbroken to learn of Bob's passing. His wonderful presence and light touched so many of us. He shared a very precious bond with Hector through running, great conversations and many, many gatherings at your home. Bob was a great listener and conversationalist, always showing genuine interest and compassion. We will never forget how both of you embraced us with love and opened your hearts and home for our wedding, the birth and the christening of Andres and many other occasions. As a close friend of Amanda's, I have been extremely blessed with the overwhelming welcoming spirit of Mr. (and Mrs.) Drewes. From my first time visiting their lovely home on Thanksgiving, where Mr. Drewes showed me the secret to making his fabulous gumbo, they always made me feel like part of the family. Showing me around NOLA, taking me to the hot spots that are known to the locals (especially jazz!), to teaching me the history of the city and touring the devastation post Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Drewes was always eager to share his knowledge with any who were interested. Seeing his sheer joy in celebrating his daughter's wedding and birth of his granddaughter were such heartfelt moments in my life - the true, unbridled joy of a father.
I was blessed with the chance to travel with the family to enjoy Octoberfest in Breckenridge - a trip I will never forget! I often reflect back to one of my favorite images of Mr. and Mrs. Drewes dancing- they always made my heart sing.
Thru all his battles with illness, he never lost the passion of love and life, valuing time with his beloved wife, children, family and friends. Certainly something we can all aspire to 💕 I am so honored to have met such a genuine human and will forever reflect fondly on all my time spent with Mr. Drewes - forever missed.
Robert was a great friend and cousin. Even though we didn’t see each other very often, we did keep in touch via telephone, text, and Facebook. We saw each other at family reunion at my sons house and Robert and Bonnie came to visit my mom for her hundredth birthday. I have a great video from that day. They made my mom so happy. I am going to miss him and I want to offer my sincere condolences to Bonnie and the rest of the family. He will surely be missed.

Our heartfelt condolences to Bonnie and the Drewes family. Robert was such a wonderful neighbor and we always enjoyed the opportunities to meet and talk with him and Bonnie, whether it be on his pontoon boat or just walking in the neighborhood.
