Robert L. Bourcq's Obituary
View Video Tribute Robert “Bobby” Lionel Bourcq, a 40 year resident of Mandeville, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Friday, November 2, 2007. Born in New Orleans on July 27, 1928 to the late Gratian Rene and Evelyn Barton Bourcq, he was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He is survived by two loving daughters: Denise B. Merlone (Peter) and Michelle B. Weinger (Duyne); he adored and cherished six grandchildren: Sydney, Zachary and Remington Weinger, Alexandra and Addison Altholz, Kristen Merlone; a devoted sister, Sue Ellen Bourcq and his former wife, Genevieve Guiroz Craig. Bobby is also survived by many loyal friends including Huey Vogt, Larry Boudreaux and Chris Chambers. He was preceded in death by his brother, Blaise P. Bourcq, Sr.; one sister, Patricia B. Hall and his nephew Blaire P. Bourcq, Jr. He graduated from St. Aloyisus High School and attended Delgado Community College. As a young man he was an accomplished musician, a war Veteran of the US Army having served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He is also a member of the Marine Hall of Fame and a World Record Holder in speed boat racing as the fastest man on water, breaking his own world’s record twice in the 1950’s. A passionate conservationist and craftsman, Bobby loved the outdoors and every moment at his camp hunting and fishing. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Memorial Services on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W.21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours will begin Wednesday at 9:00 AM. A private family committal service will follow services at the Mandeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G.
