I first met Chief Badon during Katrina. His department helped me get my elderly parents, one wheelchair bound, one bedridden up the steps in my home after evacuating them from New Orleans. I will forever be grateful. He was a wonderful man. May he Rest In Peace. Prayers and comfort to his family. Jackie Helmstetter
Most knew him as Chief Badon. I knew him as Mr. Badon who was my 6th grade teacher in Abita Jr High in 1972. He was such a nice man and loved having him as my teacher. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

I have known Chief Badon for many years. If you were involved in public service in St. Tammany for any amount of time, Chief Badon was synonymous with the Covington Fire Department. I had a tremendous amount of respect for him, but after becoming the Chief of Police in Covington in 2013 I developed a friendship with him that I will cherish a lifetime. The City of Covington, and it’s Fire Department is a better place because of him. He will be greatly missed. Rest In peace my friend.

Chief Badon... a friend, a leader, a lovable, loyal father figure to so many! His life impacted so many people, he truly made a great difference in this world. When Chief Badon retired from the CFD, I so missed having conversations with him. I don't think I've every had a conversation with him that didn't last at least 30 minutes, Chief could really carry a conversation! His insight to life in general was so positive. He will be missed once again, but I promise he'll never be forgotten! 🙏🏼:flag-us:
Patty, I will not be able to attend the service for Richard unfortunately (I'm self quarantined for another 6 days). But I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
