Myrl Lenfant Cambias' Obituary
Myrl Lenfant Cambias entered her eternal rest on Thursday evening November 16, 2023 at the age of 98 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 11, 1924. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Seymour Cambias Jr., her parents Henry and Irma Lenfant, and sister Ethelyn T. Lenfant. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Cambias Furnish, Seymour Richard Cambias III, Barbara Cambias Clark (Bruce), and Jacqueline Cambias Peer (David). Myrl was the proud grandmother of William Furnish, Kristin Furnish (Ruben Minutti), Heather Norman (Mark), Lindsay Clark (Bill Ciavarelli), and Jillian Clark (Michael Martini). She was great-grandmother to Samantha, Veronica, and Calvin Furnish, Nicholas and Daniel Minutti, James, Luke, and Margaret Norman, and Mia Ciavarelli. She will be dearly missed by a host of other relations and devoted lifelong friends.
Myrl graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from Newcomb College of Tulane University, then began her career as a teacher in New Orleans schools, private and public, at various levels. After moving to the Valley Forge, Pennsylvania area with her husband for a number of years, she returned to Louisiana, was a thirty-eight year resident of Tchefuncte Club Estates, and a faithful and active member of Madisonville Presbyterian Church for a many years.
Myrl was loving, compassionate, and wonderfully caring to all. However, her true passion was spending time with and hosting her family and friends. Myrl was unique and irreplaceable, truly respected, and will be deeply missed. Her jovial spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of all those friends and family until they meet again.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Madisonville Presbyterian Church, 705 Pine Street, Madisonville, Louisiana 70447, on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery, 120 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124.
