Megan Elizabeth Penny passed away at home on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. A native of Tupelo, MS, she was born on Christmas Day, 1999 and moved to Covington, LA in 2001. She was forever an optimist and a leader that led by example Read Obituary
I just wanted to say that It was with pleasure that I was Megan's "Chemo Angel" and I hope that I somehow brought a bit of sunshine to her days....I am deeply sorry for your loss.
So very saddened and heartbroken about Megan. She was a joy to be around on and off the field. Thoughts around prayers go out to your family and all of our friends who became one in our softball community.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Megan has been in our prayers since the day we heard she was sick. As a member of the Havoc Softball organization for several years she was always so positive and had a great smile. I would see her at least twice a week at Havoc practice at Lakeshore High and she was always so happy doing what she loved. Every person she touched will be a better person for knowing her. Wow..where do I begin. I have been blessed to know Megan for many years. She was and always will be a wonderful part of my memories. I think one of the best memories I have of her is when I coached her in softball. One game we were playing and of course she cracked the ball for a double, she was on second, the pitcher had wild pitch, I was coaching third and Jenny was coaching first, I looked at Megan and told her to steal.. The face that not only she had but Jenny have was hysterical, needless to say, she did steal while she was coming, the catcher threw the ball to third, and yes they over threw third, so I figured hey let's score, so I sent her home, they tried their best to get her out but she was safe...after the game btw we won, Megan came up to me and said, "Coach Gina, that was fun getting to steal and all but let's not do that again..I am not built for speed but I am for power so can we stick with that.." What she said is true.. She was built for POWER.. She always had a strength not only physically but emotionally as well. She was so strong in many ways and no matter had that smile. I love you Megan and am a better person having you been a part of mine and my family's life! MP#18 FOREVER!!
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jennifer and Eddie with the loss of Megan. We will always remember the many years she played softball at Pelican Park and that they coached. She loved softball and life!!
