Marylin "Mary" Anjanette Mayo's Obituary
Marylin “Mary” Anjanette Mayo passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the age of 42 in Covington, Louisiana.
Born on October 9, 1980, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Mary graduated from Pope John Paul II High School in 1998 and went on to study at Louisiana State University before becoming a deputy with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. In 2007, Mary was paralyzed when a tree fell on the patrol car she was riding in during a funeral procession for a fellow STPSO deputy. Her fiancé, STPSO Sgt. Beau Raimer, died in the accident. Mary cherished her service with STPSO and was devastated when she was forced to retire due to her injuries. She was very grateful for the support of her fellow deputies and the entire St. Tammany Parish community in the years following the accident and dedicated herself to many law enforcement efforts and causes.
Mary was kindhearted and fun loving to her core. She was an avid animal lover and will be missed by her service dog, Willa, and her rescue dog, Buddy. In addition to animals, she cared deeply for the people around her and made an impact on many lives, turning strangers into dear friends and friends into chosen family.
Mary was preceded in death by her father Robert “Bob” Mayo, her fiancé Linden “Beau” Raimer, her cousin/best friend/partner in crime Charisse Percle and her grandparents Elgin and Stella Arceneaux and Carl and Mildred Mayo. Mary is survived by her mother April Arceneaux Mayo, brother Carl Mayo (Lindsay), niece Madalyn Mayo, godmother Ava Percle, Aunts Joyce Mayo and Leslie Arceneaux, Uncles Elgin “Bubba” Arceneaux and Perry Percle and several beloved cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 20370 Smith Rd, Covington, LA 70435 on Thursday, September 28th at 11am, with visitation from 9am until Mass time. Interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Louisiana Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, a statewide non-profit organization providing programs and services for the survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in the state of Louisiana (www.la-cops.org).
