Laurie Brown
Mary and I met in 1967 when we were 16 and went to Europe together. She invited me to Mardi Gras the following year and I fell in love with New Orleans. I almost went to school there but instead Mary was influential in my decision to go to University of Colorado. Over the years we would occasionally cross paths. The last time I saw her was in 2007 We spent a wonderful fourth of July together and then we meet in the city a few days later for a drink and conversation. Whether it was one year or 20 years between visits , it was remarkable how both of us felt like it had been no time at all. Mary still had that spirit that I remember when we were teenagers at Mardi Gras in 1969. We reflected a lot that day in the french quarter about the direction our lives had gone. When I heard the Saints were in the super bowl I immediately thought of Mary and about how excited she must be. It was then that I found out of the tragic news. I am so sorry for your loss Laura,Andrew and Diana- Kathy and Pat-your mother, your sister was an amazing person. Although I saw her rarely I felt like we were lifelong friends. My last conversation with her was about a year ago -I had no idea that she was sick. My heart goes out to you all- a great loss.
Many hugs, Laurie (Brown)
