Martin A. Simmons, Jr. died on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brunette Smith Simmons, his daughter, Babette Simmons Tanenbaum and her husband Jay Tanenbaum, and by one sister Read Obituary

Brunette and Family. I, along w/my children Pat, Chris, Carin & Matt Dorman, extend our deepest regrets for your loss. Mr. Simmons contributed so much to public education in St. Tammany Parish. He was always so supportive of PTA activities. I have to laugh when I recall some of my brilliant ideas that turned out to be not so brilliant... but he went along w/me and was willing to "give it a try" I know he will be missed, but will remain in all our hearts.
Simmons family,I am deeply sorry for your loss. I have a lot of wonderful memories of Mr.Simmons. I was in the 6th grade when he retired remember the big party we had for him. Mr. Simmons was such a bright light in the halls of Mandeville Middle School. I have many vivid, meaningful memories of him from my time as a student at MMS. Mr. Simmons, you will be missed. My prayers are with his family.
