I am saddened to hear of Mrs Martha's passing. I was so looking forward to her Centenarian birthday and was surely to make the trip to New Orleans, because that was truly a milestone she wanted to achieve. I was captured by her lovely smile and caring persona many years ago at St John the Apostle Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. Martha and her daughter Mary would habitually be seated in the pew behind me or very close by. She would share scripture with me and photos of her church back home in Louisiana & I would tell her about my boyhood parish in New York City. She always inquired about my mother's health. Martha affected my life because she told me one day, that through her observation of me at Mass, that she admired and respected that I was a God fearing man and thought of me as a good man. She was always concerned about me and always asked me why I wasn't married again, lol. I can only imagine the wonderful life Martha had over 98+ years. I look forward to her Celebration of Life event in May 2024.
