Mario Salvadore Arthur, Sr., on Monday, Sept. 18, 2006.
A graduate of LSU in Criminal Justice. Retired from the Navy in 1968.
He was the former Police Chief of Mandeville from 1967-1969, retired Chief of Detectives with the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office in 1980, retired from Mandeville Police Dept. as Assistant Chief of Police in 1985, retired from the St. Tammany District Attorney’s Office in 2001 as Chief Investigator.
Member of the Germania Masonic Lodge #46, American Legion Post #415, LA Sheriffs Assn., LA Peace Officers Assn., LA Municipal Police Officer Assn. and LA District Attorney’s Assn.
Beloved husband of Patricia Williams Arthur. Father of Margorie A. Cromp, Mario S. Arthur, Jr. and Patricia A. Astarita. Son of the late Harold F. and Marjorie Mills Arthur. Step-son of the late Esma Stephens Arthur. Brother of the late Melvin J. Arthur and Harold F. Arthur, Jr. Step-brother of Joyce Sherlock. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Aged 76 years, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Mandeville, LA for most of his life.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at 11:00 AM from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment in Mandeville Cemetery.
