Dr. Louis J. Gallo's Obituary
Dr. Louis J. Gallo passed away on February 7, 2010. He was born September 20, 1924 in New Orleans to the late Joseph and Marie Passafume Gallo and has been a resident of Covington since 1952.
The beloved husband of the late Norma Jean Huss Gallo, he is survived by five children: Cynthia G. Price (Donald), Deborah G. Berris (Craig), Barry C. Gallo, Karen F. Gallo, Diane G. Frosch (Gerard); one brother, Joseph Gallo, Jr. (Iris) and nine grandchildren: Alison P. Clark, Christopher L. and William G. Price, M. Reid and P. Conner Berris, J. Leigh and Thomas C. Gallo, Lane K. David and G. Austin Frosch. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Merrill and Katherine “Kitty” Simoneaux and two grandsons, Brock L. David and Louis Blake Price. He is also survived by his dear friend, Jamie Rapp.
A US Naval veteran of WW II, Dr. Gallo operated a private dental practice in Covington for 48 years. A past president of the Louisiana Dental Association, he was admitted into the American and the International Colleges of Dentistry. Through the Knights of Columbus, The Lion’s Club and his catholic faith he proved his love and dedication to his community. He also served the Board of Directors of the St. Tammany Homestead and was a member of several carnival krewes.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2010 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours will begin Friday at 1:00 PM.
Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s School, 917 S. Jahncke St., Covington, LA 70433 or to St. Joseph Abbey Seminary College, 75376 River Rd., St. Benedict, LA 70457.
