After high school, she attended Grambling State University, and earned her master’s degree in education. Learmia was an outstanding and exceptional teacher for over 35 years in St. Tammany Parish. She was well-respected by all, and truly enjoyed teaching at Chata-Ima Elementary School and Mandeville Middle School, until she retired in 1996. Learmia was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a long-time active member of St. Anselm Catholic Church of Madisonville.
Learmia, fondly endeared by her family and friends as “Lee-Darlin” or “Mrs. Lee”, was loving, compassionate, and most importantly, a very caring person to all she touched.
