Kim Marie Roger's Obituary
Kim Marie Roger entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Baton Rouge General Hospice Care surrounded by her family. She was born on September 7, 1973, in New Orleans, Louisiana and adopted immediately by Al and Toni Roger. Kim bravely fought Huntington’s Disease for 15 years. While she was able to, Kim researched the disease and was aware and accepting of what was to come in the future.
Kim is survived by her mother, Antoinette (Toni) Lamia Roger and her daughters, Caitlan Jane O'Heeron and Emma Faith O'Heeron: many caring uncles, aunts, and cousins who rallied for her during her last days; and many extended family members and friends. Kim was preceded in death by her father, Alcee (Al) C. Roger, her maternal grandparents, Anthony and Camille Lamia, and her paternal grandparents, Alcee L. Roger and Rosalie Thibodeaux.
Kim had a heart of gold and would do anything to help people. She moved to Houston in 2000 and obtained work in several fields, including the University of Phoenix. She loved family above everything else. During Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Kim was in touch with her Louisiana families to be sure they were safe and find out where they were located. She moved back to Louisiana in 2013 to live with her parents. Some of her favorite things to do were to plant vegetables, listen to audiobooks, hang out with her daughters, watching movies and going to concerts with them, and pranking her parents while staying with them.
Kim raised two amazing and loving daughters. After being diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease, her daughters also moved to Louisiana to help care for their mother. In January of 2022, Kim had to go into a nursing home when her family was no longer able to take care of her. She lived there until her death.
Toni, Caitlan and Emma would like to thank everyone who reached out to Kim as her disease progressed. She was grateful for each one who did. We especially thank the nurses and staff of Landmark Nursing Home in Plaquemine, Louisiana for the care given to Kim during her stay there.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Kim at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 222 S. Jefferson Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 4:30 pm with visitation from 3:00 pm until service time. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, Louisiana.
