Katherine Jane Rives' Obituary
Katherine Jane Rives passed away on May 27, 2026, after a long illness in Lafayette, Louisiana at the age of 74. She died peacefully with her friend and caregiver Verda Boutte-Trahan by her side. Jane was preceded in death by her father, James D. Rives, Jr., and mother, Mary Thibaut Rives and is survived by her brothers, James D. Rives, III, Frank Williams Rives, and Bronier Thibaut Rives. Jane was an artist, equestrian, cat lover and a devout Catholic. She was born on February 13, 1952, in New Orleans and lived in Houston with her family for four years before they returned to New Orleans. She attended Ecole Classique until the family moved to Covington, and then she transferred to St. Scholastica, from which she graduated in 1970. Jane went to college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette and received several degrees there. She enjoyed the culture of Lafayette and permanently settled there after finishing her studies. Jane was a kind, gentle person who was always sensitive to the feelings of others. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until mass. Interment will take place following the service in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
