Joseph (Joe) Anthony Parlipiano Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph (Joe) Anthony Parlipiano, Sr. entered eternal rest peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on March 25, 1929 in New Orleans, the youngest of four boys and the last of his generation to pass away. Joe was the son of the late Michel Parlipiano and his beloved mother, Lillian Jensen Parlipiano. Preceded in death by his brothers, Michel (Mickey), Warren, and Frank Parlipiano, Sr. and his caring paternal aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his loving bride and longtime caregiver of 57 years, Darlene Laine Parlipiano and his two children, daughter, Penny Parlipiano England and her husband, Ronnie, and son, Joseph (Joey) Parlipiano, Jr., and his wife, Monique. Also, survived by two grandchildren. He was Buddy to Blake England and Paw Paw to Brittany Powell, and her husband, Dale and great-granddaughter, Izsabella Rose Powell. Joe is also survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews on both the Parlipiano and Laine sides of the families and his many friends.
During Joe’s 95 years of his earthly life, he had the best of both worlds. A confirmed bachelor for 38 years, he enjoyed life with friends around his old neighborhood of Chartres and Port Streets, living at the family camp during the summers and belonging to several carnival and social clubs. He enjoyed fishing, wood-working and a good Old Fashioned. A new chapter began when he finally found the love of his life, Darlene, and married in 1967. He loved his family with all his heart and they loved him right back.
For over 25 years, he owned and operated the Dixie White House Bar. For the last 15 ½ years he lived on the north shore in Lake Ramsey and made even more friends.
The family would like to thank everyone who has been so kind during this most difficult time and the St. Tammany Hospice for their great care and support.
