John David Orazio Jr.'s Obituary
John David Orazio Jr., a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023.
Son of the late John David Orazio Sr. and Doris Rogers Orazio. John was born January 30, 1951 in New Orleans and attended Warren Easton High School where he played football and ran track. He was a resident of Madisonville, Louisiana.
At the age of 20, John enlisted in the United States Army. He served as a Helicopter Door Gunner and Crew Chief in the 101st Airborne Division. For his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Expert Badge M-16, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After leaving the army, John worked as a helicopter mechanic and machinist. He later worked for Chevron USA, as an aircraft and offshore diesel mechanic for many years before retiring in 1998.
John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Forestier Orazio, his children Susan Regusa Bowers, Anthony David Orazio, Sunnie Ann Orazio and her husband Brian Johnson. His grandchildren, Kayli Orazio, John Bradley Bowers, David Bowers and Theo Johnson. His siblings, Norvel William Orazio, Pamela Sue Orazio, Paula Louise Orazio Reed, and Glen Craig Orazio. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His loved ones will remember him as a great husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and the patriarch of the family. John was a dog lover, gun expert, hunter, bird and deer feeder, YouTube commentator, amateur painter and investigator of unsolved mysteries. He was awarded the Greatest Brother Ever title and along with his friend Smitty, ended the Vietnam Conflict.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Theodore Dendinger Cemetery.
