THE DAY HEAVEN GOT A LITTLE SWEETER! came to Slidell when I was 8/9 yrs old and met John as a freshman at Salmen High. Was hanging out with John in his upstairs and his mom called upstairs Andy asked if John if I would like to stay for dinner. I thought it was a good idea especially since it smelled so good. So we went downstairs and there it was! Red Beans & rice. At this point I have never had red beans & rice with that yellow bread! We sat down and I looked at my bowl and there was something in there with the beans. Joh says “don’t like red beans huh” not wanting to be rude since home cooked meals didn’t come around often. John says “try mayonnaise, I do”. Again not wanting to be rude I opted for ketchup. No doubt this meal was from heaven!! I couldn’t believe all these years I never put beans on my rice! John converted me and cornbread too! I continued since that day to eat this bounty from Heaven! John, I didn’t see you as often as I could have but we had some good times during school at Salmen! I look forward to seeing you again. Prayers to your Mom, Dad, Diane, Margie and the rest of your family. Again Heaven got a little sweeter! I pray God finds favor in you and your family.

John was one of my dearest friends. He was a caring, compassionate, funny and brilliant. He should have become an engineer.
He like too many friends and family I have lost in the last several years, will be sorely missed.
Some of my best memories in life involved John. I will cherish them, always, and think about him often.
I met John because our girlfriends were friends. Those girls are no longer friends. But Jon was one of my few close friends (for 45 years). Go figure.
