John S. Bowers II's Obituary
John S. Bowers, II, age 77, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. He was born on December 12, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Debra Ducote Bowers; his sons, John S. Bowers, III (Laurel) and Jared Matthew Bowers (Erinda); his beloved grandchildren, John IV and Joyce; his sister Judy Bowers Ehle (John); and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Joyce Bowers.
John was a proud member of IBEW Local 130 for 55 years. He had a variety of roles throughout his career, including being an instructor in the apprenticeship program for many years. John was the founding director of the New Orleans Electrical Safety Education Plan where he served for 10 years as an instructor touching the lives and educating hundreds of individuals in construction safety. During this time, he was the proud recipient of the Ed Eagan Soldier of Safety National Award, and he served as the President of the National Safety Council for a term. After his retirement, John indulged his lifelong hobby of gun collecting, becoming the owner of Covington Arms. His expertise in every field in which he endeavored was remarkable, and he joyfully shared his knowledge with anyone who asked. His outgoing personality and love of life were a joy to all who knew him. His greatest love was his family with whom he spent his time and his loving care. He will be sorely missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial mass on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will be held at a later date.
