Joan Rose Triche Flood's Obituary
Joan Rose Triche Flood, a great Southern lady, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 4, 2007 from complications due to Alzheimer’s. She was 85 years old. Born in Napoleonville, Mrs. Flood spent most of her life there and in Pierre Part, Louisiana.
A retired teacher, she graduated from Louisiana State University where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority and obtained a degree in Home Economics. During World War II, she worked as a chemist at Standard Oil (now Exxon Mobil) in Baton Rouge. During the war years, she met her late husband, Herbert R. Flood, Sr. when he was stationed there for his military training.
Her desire to help others led her to teach adults to read as well as mentor young women in her home. Mrs. Flood loved spending time with her family, traveling, playing classical piano, gardening and spending time at her camp at Lake Verrett.
Survivors include her brother, Risley “Pappy” Triche of Napoleonville; her children: Dr. Herb Flood and his wife, Lisa of Covington, Louisiana; Peter Flood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Heloise “Sweetie” Flood Simmons and her husband Glenn of Scottsdale, Arizona; Joseph “Michael” and Olanda Flood of Hilo, Hawaii; John and Barbara Flood also of Scottsdale, Arizona; 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
