Jean Ann Reine Hall's Obituary
Jean Ann Reine Hall, born January 17, 1943, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Ochsner Health Center in Baton Rouge following health complications associated with Dementia. A resident of Baton Rouge following Hurricane Katrina, Jean Hall was born and raised in 7th Ward New Orleans near Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Joseph and Jeanne Charlesia (Pratts) Reine; and her beloved husband, Alex Sylvester Hall.
Jean Hall attended Corpus Christi Catholic School as a little girl, followed by Xavier Prep and Xavier University of New Orleans where she earned a B.A. degree in education. Her adult life was spent teaching 2nd grade at Medard H. Nelson Elementary school in New Orleans for 30 years. Anyone who knew Jean knew how much she loved her students and devoted her time and attention to them. During retirement, she frequently ran into former students in the community who would excitedly hug her and recall fond memories of their favorite teacher.
Jean Hall is survived by her brother, Dr. Alden Henry Reine, Sr.; her sisters-in-law, Lois Blanc Reine and Florence Rowser; former sister-in-law, Sondra Cloth Reine; brother-in-law, Johnny Hall;; nieces Dr. Gena Reine and Susan Reine McCleskey (J.J.); nephew Dr. Alden Reine, Jr.; great nephews, Jalen McCleskey, Justin McCleskey, Holden Reine and Alexander Reine; and great niece Emma Reine; her devoted cousin, Carolyn Pratts Doucette (Sterling, Sr.); and a host of other cousins and friends..
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Katharine Drexel Chapel on the campus of Xavier University, 1 Drexel Drive, New Orleans, LA 70125 on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00am until Mass time. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Louis Cemetery #3, New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Jean Ann Reine Hall to be made either to the St. Katherine Drexel Preparatory School in New Orleans or to Xavier University of Louisiana.
