Jane was my closest friend throughout my entire life. We lived a half-block from each other during our childhood. I thought she was the most intelligent, informed, and kindest friend I was fortunate to have as a child. We were separated after college entry, and it was a number of years later that we met as young mothers at Schwegman's in Metairie, each with two little ones in tow. We met weekly from then on. Forever friends; forever comrades. We shared the same interests and passions - fervent Americans, faithful believers in Christ.
Together we worked to establish the first Montessori school in Louisiana. One regret that I have was that I didn't take her up on her interest that we open an early childhood educational outlet in Mandeville, but I lived on the south shore then and my work at Xavier and my four children limited my energy.
My heart was broken when she died, for we talked the previous four days daily on the phone.
My love goes out to Ronnie, whom she loved so much, and to her children and grandchildren.
With loving memories of a truly remarkable, thoughtful, intelligent, and caring Christian woman. I love you, Jane, and look forward to being with you when I too enter into Christ's kingdom.
