Pastor James R. Taglauer's Obituary
Pastor James R. Taglauer passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025. He was born in Frankenlust, Bay County, MI on July 7, 1934.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Elaine Bauer Taglauer; his children, Brian Taglauer, Kristi Taglauer and son-in-law Doug Nodurft, Julie Taglauer, Lisa Taglauer and Heidi Taglauer Bowlsbey and son-in-law Clark Bowlsbey; his grandchildren Rory Gonlag, Jessie Springer, Jenna Fucci, Justine Fucci, Bailee Stern, Bryce Bowlsbey, Hayden Bowlsbey, Amanda Bowlsbey, Kyle Bowlsbey, Matthew George, Joshua George and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sibling Rev. Kenneth Taglauer, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Laura Baiser Taglauer and Robert Taglauer; and siblings, Marian Taglauer Meehlader; Eileen Taglauer Zoellner; and his son Robert Matthew Taglauer.
Pastor Taglauer most recently served as interim Pastor and pianist for New Life Lutheran Church in Folsom, Louisiana. He served as senior Pastor at First English Lutheran Church in New Orleans from 1980 to 1997, after which he retired. He completed seminary and was ordained at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO in 1974. Prior to this he taught at Concordia College in New York, at Christ Lutheran in North Carolina and was Director of Education of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Maryland. Pastor Taglauer established FEME, First English Mission Events, with a mission to provide alternative water and food sources for rural and international communities. FEME efforts also included construction of school buildings and other structures in areas of need. His love of woodworking helped to financially support the efforts of FEME. You became fast friends with him if you shared his passion for fishing, salt or freshwater.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Holy Trinity Lutheran Ministries, 1 N. Marigold, Covington LA 70433 on Tuesday, February 18th, 2025, at 12 noon with visitation at church on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, in Auburn, Michigan.
