I met Jim through TIPS and knew him for many years. He is remembered not only for his dedication to the TIPS organization and for his skill as a lawyer but as a kind hearted, good soul of a person. He was serious in his problem solving but had a great sense of humor and a quick wit.
Jim always impressed me when he was Chair of TIPS always striving to do the right thing for everyone. He was always willing to share his wisdom and friendship.
I also observed him caring for Cindy diligently during her illness, years ago- and that is who he was -plain and simple a good hearted soul. I never met his children or grandchildren but only knew them through our conversations where he expressed how proud he was of his family.
I last saw Jim at the TIPS Reception in Chicago on last Friday Night. When I approached to greet him he had a drink in one hand and a plate of food in the other -he laughed and offered me his pinky and a shook it. His boyish grin will stay with me forever and that is how I wish to remember him.
My deepest sympathy to Cindy, the Carroll Family as well as all his friends he made through the various organizations where he donated his time, energy and spread his goodness. Steve Lesser
