James Charles Carey, Sr. passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008.
He was the beloved husband of Mary “Tressie” Higgins Carey. Father of Nancy Carey Simeon (Rick) and James C. “Chuck” Carey, Jr. (Laurie). Grandfather of Mike, Jim and Lauren Simeon, Katie and Mollie Carey. Son of the late Barney Francis Carey, Sr. and Marie Jochim Carey. Brother of the late Audrey Carey Champagne and Barney F. Carey, Jr.
Age 80 years. A native of Abita Springs, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for the past 72 years.
A 1950 Graduate of L.S.U., he worked in the family’s beer distributorship – Barney Carey Company. The company later became Jim Carey Distributing Company, where he served as President and Chairman of the Board.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 1:00 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, on Tuesday from 11:30 AM until service time.
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church.
