Hugh was a great inspiration for me in the AA program and because I was a Navy Veteran like he was, we became more than friends and I was sorry to hear a month later that he passed away.

I met Hugh at my first IDAA meeting. He was a huge inspiration to me & my sobriety! Hugh & Ms. Dianne are like my “recovery” parents. I have been blessed to spend a Christmas with them. They have always supported me in all my affairs & endeavors. I will always remember Hugh’s little uplifting comments on my Facebook posts & the daily recovery emails that were so instrumental to me in my early sobriety. ❤️
I did not know Dr King but I know his daughter. Gail Berntson is a kind, caring and wise physician. From reading Dr King’s memorials - it is clear Gail learned these wonderful attributes from her amazing Dad. Prayers for the family. Mary Hammons

What a lived life, he put so much into that - symbol of our time here. A cherished memory is having lunch with him at the airport on our way out of Knoxville. He frequently closed his emails with “ if hasn’t anyone told you today that they love you, let me be the first.”

Praying for your family. God bless.
