Grant John Ross' Obituary
Grant John Ross, November 10, 1942-July 21, 2023 at the age of 80. He was born in New Orleans, LA and has resided in the Folsom/Covington area for the past 60 years. He was called to his Heavenly home surrounded by his family.
Grant is survived by his son, Sean and his wife Joy and their daughters, Madyson and Brooklyn of Franklinton; his brother, Gary Ross of Baton Rouge; his daughter Maureen Ross McKenzie and her husband John and their children, Dustin, Cody, Amber, Nicholas and Noah of Kenner; his stepson-in-law, Vincent Sauro and his daughter,Shelli Sauro Ivy and Hayli Hernandez of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen Turner Ross; his parents Shirley Frey Ross and Cecil Ross; daughter Tracy Ross and step daughter, Sarah Turner Sauro. .
Grant worked as a police officer for the New Orleans Police Department before moving to St. Tammany Parish and joining the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department where he retired as Lieutenant Detective of the Juvenile Division. During his time at the Sheriff’s Office he felt a calling to the Lord and enrolled in Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO and traveled to Missouri for some of his studies. He continuously remained active in church activities, especially at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where on Wednesdays he held children’s chapel for their school program. Upon finishing his studies, he started his own missionary church named New Life Lutheran Church on LA hwy 25 in Folsom, LA where he was still presiding pastor.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations to New Life Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1617, Folsom, LA 70437 in Pastor Grant’s name.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 5:00 PM with visitation on Monday beginning at 3:00 PM. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens will be private.
