Geraldine Estelle Chaplain's Obituary
Geraldine Estelle “Gerry” Chaplain passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 after battling cancer.
Survived by her husband Wallace Chaplain, Sr., four children, Diane Ferguson, Wallace Chaplain, Jr., Janet Chaplain-Leonard and Karen Chaplain, four grandchildren Alison Crane, Brandie Chaplain, Samantha Chaplain and Brandon Chaplain, her mother Evelyn Chretien Smith and brother Bertram G. Smith III, three nieces one nephew and six great nieces and one great nephew. Preceded in death by her father Bertram G. Smith, Jr., sister Florence Smith Roy and two nephews.
Gerry served on various boards and committees at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Atonement Lutheran Church. In the past she has served as LWML Zone President, LWML Southern District President, President of Lutheran Social Services’ Board, President & Vice President of an Aid Association for Lutherans Branch and President for Northshore LA-Southeast MS Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Before retiring Gerry worked for Northshore Options, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, New Directions-RTC, Lutheran Social Services, and LA Dock/American Commercial Barge Lines. Gerry will be missed and loved by many.
Aged 70 years, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Covington, LA.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 3:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. #1 N. Marigold Dr., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time.
